The Suite at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine presented numerous challenges for our team, with perhaps the most significant being the installation of the modular wall system. Our task was to create a seamless suite with movable parts, a task far from simple! The designated room was situated within a building undergoing extensive redevelopment, nestled within the shell of its predecessor. Despite the building’s development lagging behind schedule, we successfully completed the project on time and continued to oversee its management until the building’s opening.
Today, the suite is a bustling hub, utilized daily by the dedicated team at LSTM. Their passion and ingenuity shine through as they harness the suite’s capabilities to develop truly remarkable content. It’s immensely gratifying to witness the impact of our work on the groundbreaking endeavors undertaken by LSTM.
Below Mark Iddon talk us through using the space and what its like to work with Gener8
What is it like to work with Gener8:
Working with Gener8 has been a great experience from the start and right through our journey. The directors and their team strike the perfect balance of providing a professional and personal service. While I’m sure they have many clients – now all around the world – when they are dealing with you, you feel like you’re the only one. The passion they have not only for their product but also for ensuring it works for their clients is clear to see. Beyond simply installing the system successfully, I truly believe they are as invested as our own organisation in making the immersive suite flourish, in terms of driving its use and providing solutions to our teaching needs.
How communication and support help make the room a success:
Gener8’s support is amongst the best I have ever experienced, if not the best. Unlike many other suppliers, whose service and involvement drops off following purchase of their product, Gener8’s support continues at the same high level throughout. No question or request is too big or too small; from guidance and advice regarding the development of immersive experiences to technical challenges that require their unique expertise. When an issue is reported, a response follows almost immediately, and any subsequent resolutions are scheduled as soon as possible – normally on the same day or certainly within the days that follow. Their support comes in various forms, to work around your own commitments; from remote access to their technologies to onsite visits which they never shy away from when needed.
How the room works for you:
The immersive suite has provided our organisation with cutting-edge technology that has encouraged our staff to think innovatively about how we can make teaching and learning more interactive and effective for students. Engagement from our staff – i.e. those with the potential of using the suite for teaching – has been even greater than we expected. The suite has captured their imagination and generated a plethora of ideas on how we can integrate immersive learning into our curriculum; some of which are already in use, with many more yet to explore. Beyond teaching, the suite provides a ‘wow-factor’ for external events such as open days, promotions and stakeholder meetings. Our particular installation wasn’t without its challenges, from a technical point of view, but every hurdle was met with a can (and will) do attitude by Gener8 who went above and beyond, working alongside other contractors, until our suite was in full working order.
